Every city can be a garden
Garden.City exists to help people who live in apartments, condos and townhouses grow food, flowers and habitat in the space they actually have.
Our mission
Most gardening advice assumes a backyard. Most people now live in cities, often with only a balcony, a rooftop share or a windowsill. We publish practical, honest guidance for those spaces, build free tools that turn advice into a plan, and connect readers with professionals when a project is bigger than a weekend.
What we do
- Guides written for real small-space conditions: wind, weight, shade and rules.
- Free tools that work without an account.
- Video lessons curated from trusted educators.
- Community through contests and city ambassadors.
- Pro matching with local garden designers and installers.
Editorial standards
Our guides draw on established horticultural practice and guidance from university extension services and botanical institutions. We aim to explain the “why” behind advice, flag safety issues clearly (structural load, soil contamination, building rules) and update guides when better information emerges.
Sponsored content is always labelled. Advertisers and sponsors never influence our tools or recommendations. Spotted a mistake? Tell us and we’ll correct it.
How we’re funded
Garden.City is free to use. We’re funded by display advertising (Google AdSense), sponsorships, reader contributions and referral fees from professionals who receive project requests. See our support page.
